The wall of a Smart Eco Ger is a 100 mm sandwich that combines modern FRP and XPS technology: 5 mm FRP + 90 mm XPS + 5 mm FRP.

How much brick does 100 mm of XPS replace?

In terms of thermal insulation alone, 100 mm of XPS (extruded polystyrene) performs roughly like 1.8–2.3 metres of solid brick. The thermal conductivity (λ) of XPS is 0.029–0.035 W/(m·K), while ordinary clay brick sits at 0.6–0.8 W/(m·K).

This comparison covers insulation only. A brick wall serves different purposes in terms of load bearing, sound insulation, thermal mass and fire behaviour.
